Crochet Summer Campaign
This project was a beach lifestyle fashion shoot designed to introduce a handmade crochet beachwear collection for Isla Crotchet. The goal was to create visual content that captured the softness, femininity, and effortless summer energy associated with crochet garments.
I led the full creative direction and production planning for the shoot, coordinating the team, developing the concept, sourcing the location, and guiding the visual direction from idea to execution.
Crochet fashion has always carried a strong connection to summer, beach culture, and handmade craftsmanship. The concept was to translate that feeling into a visual campaign that felt warm, natural, and aspirational.
Rather than producing overly staged studio imagery, the goal was to capture an authentic beach lifestyle aesthetic. The crochet pieces were meant to feel effortless and playful, styled as something you would wear on a spontaneous summer day by the water.
The creative direction centered on softness, sunlit textures, and movement, allowing the garments to stand out while still feeling integrated into the environment.
The IdeaThe ChallengeExecuting a beach shoot required careful planning and coordination to ensure both strong visuals and smooth production.
Key challenges included organizing a full creative team, selecting a location that complemented the garments, coordinating schedules, and managing the logistics of shooting outdoors with changing light conditions.
Because the collection included five different crochet bolero colors, the shoot also required thoughtful planning to ensure each piece received strong visual representation while maintaining a cohesive overall aesthetic.
The entire production had to move efficiently from midday into sunset in order to capture both bright daytime shots and softer golden hour imagery.
The StrategyThe visual strategy focused on creating imagery that felt both editorial and natural.
The shoot emphasized
Beach lifestyle storytelling
Soft, sunlit textures
Movement and candid moments
Natural color contrast between garments and environment
Relaxed, confident styling
Instead of heavily posed fashion imagery, the goal was to create moments that felt authentic and warm. This approach allowed the crochet textures and colors to stand out while maintaining a visually cohesive summer atmosphere.
EXECUTION & LAUNCH
Concept Development and Moodboarding
The project began with research and visual exploration. I developed moodboards inspired by beach editorials, Pinterest photography references, and summer fashion campaigns.
These moodboards helped establish
visual tone
styling references
posing direction
lighting expectations
color balance between the garments and environment
This phase ensured the entire team had a shared creative vision before production began.
2. Production Planning
I coordinated the full shoot planning process, including
sourcing the beach location
recruiting the photographer and videographer
selecting models
coordinating scheduling
organizing wardrobe preparation
communicating the visual direction to the team
Clear communication and preparation were critical to making sure the shoot ran smoothly.
3. On Set Creative Direction
During the shoot I directed the overall visual flow, guiding the team through shot sequences, poses, and composition to capture the desired aesthetic.
The shoot was scheduled from midday into sunset so we could capture
bright beach lifestyle content
soft golden hour imagery
natural movement and relaxed moments
The beach environment allowed the crochet textures to interact beautifully with sunlight, wind, and sand, creating visually dynamic imagery.
