Sound Xchange is a Tampa based event platform centered around Afrobeat and Amapiano culture. The community brings together music lovers, DJs, and creatives through curated nightlife and daytime experiences that highlight African music and global dance culture.

Their events focus on creating energetic, community driven environments where music, culture, and connection meet. Through DJ sets, collaborative events, and curated parties, Sound Xchange has built a space for people who want more than just a night out. It is about community, sound, and shared energy.

I joined the team as a brand strategist to strengthen their brand identity, improve their marketing strategy, and increase event turnout through more intentional digital campaigns.

My role focused on shaping the brand direction while driving awareness and ticket sales through social media strategy and campaign execution.

I worked closely with the team on marketing strategy, event planning, and digital promotion while helping develop a more consistent and recognizable online presence.

My responsibilities included

My Role

The Strategy

When I joined the team, I studied the previous marketing approach and identified opportunities to improve how the brand communicated with its audience.

The focus shifted from simply posting flyers to building a stronger digital presence that showcased the energy of the events and the culture surrounding the music.

Instead of only promoting upcoming events, the strategy focused on creating engaging content that highlighted DJs, crowd moments, and behind the scenes experiences.

The updated approach included

  • Showcasing real event energy through photos and videos

  • Highlighting DJs and performers to build anticipation

  • Improving flyer visuals and brand consistency

  • Running targeted ad campaigns leading up to events

  • Strengthening the identity of Afrobeat and Amapiano culture in Tampa

This shift helped the brand feel more dynamic, engaging, and community driven online.

For each event campaign, I developed and managed marketing rollouts designed to build momentum leading up to the event date.

This included coordinating visual assets, planning content releases, and running ad campaigns targeting audiences interested in Afrobeat, Amapiano, nightlife, and music culture.

I also launched and managed the Sound Xchange TikTok page, producing short form videos that captured DJ performances, crowd energy, and behind the scenes moments from events.

After implementing the updated strategy, Sound Xchange saw stronger engagement across social platforms and higher event turnout.
